Once upon a time, while employed at Cherokee Park Dude Ranch, Mary was responsible for providing the guests with three balanced and hearty meals every day. With each meal, as a special treat, she created the most wonderful cookies that were packed in each ranch employee’s and guest’s saddle bag each morning. These cookies were made to withstand the battering and bouncing of the trail, so at noon, when everyone opened up their saddlebags for lunch, their cookies were not only found it one piece but moist and ready to satisfy a hungry wrangler. It didn’t take long for everyone to realize what a treasure they had found. Back at the ranch, the guests would snatch Mary’s cookies from the freezer at night and began requesting them after they returned home. Such a fuss was made that Mary was finally convinced her “Mountain Style” cookies were truly something special, and so became the beginning of Mary’s Mountain Cookies. Now more than 100 varieties of her tasty treats are sold in several locations across Colorado, Missouri and soon Montana! Mary's full story in her words is now available in book form!
