Look at it for sure. It's fantastic. So, without further ado, let's dive into the video. So, I'm just there to exchange my back leaf springs for my ex-tira of the second generation of 2005. M, a big thanks to Rhee, the autotyp. I will add a link to He has bookmarks step by step instructions and as always, she is fantastic with all M, so I follow But I just started to take my back leaf springs apart and I found it pretty interesting. I wanted to show you. So that's the series-sized U-bolts, one of the series-sized U-bolts. These are the extended replacement U-bolts that I bought. M, I will also pack a link to it in the description. They were really cheap, a couple for $ 12. I t M, the quality is just much better. They are from zinc, so they don't rust. M, and they just look much better and they are extended. With the t Guys, that's the point I don't know how to call it, the carrier plate for the U-bolts. She is placed under the leaf springs. M, and here the U-bolts go through, w M, as you can see, I mean, mine is a 0. 5R. I have never taken the t I don'think they ever exchanged the leaf springs or something M, what I'm going to do now is that I just soak it in a little bit of grease to clean it a little bit and then spray it with a little rust protection paint. M, just so that it looks a little better and clean again. If you take somet And that extends the lifespan. So you should definitely buy new replacement U-bolts. M, they are really not expensive. I t M, I couldn't find anyt M, they look pretty good. Let'see how they do. Another little recommendation. If you've worked a lot on cars, If not, you can definitely see that the stuff looks wet. That's because I've been drinking PB Blast for 1 or 2 days. So if you have time, you should apply it 2 or 3 times a day or 2 times so that it can be pulled into the screws and can be pushed in. So the screws can be loosened easier. Okay, guys, as you can see, the leaf springs are separated from the axle. Another remark, I've solved a side. I've solved the driver side and then the passenger side. I've kept the differential with my car lever up. When I solved the second side, it moved. That scared me a little. It's on the lift stage. So it'stable. Now, the truck is not And when t Just for info, be very, very careful when you take the t Look at the video from Reeve Car Geister again. Now I'm going to the front. From I don't have a 22R millimeter key. But a 7. 8 is basically the same. So I'm going to use the 7. 8 key inside, so that the mother doesn'turn. And then I'm going to use my electric screwdriver with a 19R key outside, to loosen the t And then I just have to do the back side and then repeat that for the other side. And then we're going to put the new leafs on. So pretty exciting. A last tip, M, when you do t M, but leave the screw in there. It's not necessary to let the end of the leaf fall down. And if you then work on the other end, you can do the same. And then you can just take everyt Okay, guys. As you can see, the mother was in the front, maybe with the shadows here, removed from the inside. She's just sitting on the screw. M, and these pocket lamps, I love these t I'm going to add a link down there. They're magnetic, w M, so you can put them everywhere, where you need the light. M, they're adjustable, they have different modes and settings. They're foldable again via USB, w They're in the 2-pack. So I have two of them. If one breaks, I have one. If that helps you, I'll put a link to the parts in the description. But yes, now let's come to the back parts. We do the same as before. Okay, okay. So I'm going to choose a different approach at the back than Rhee, the auttype. He has it in Remove the inner screws or nuts on the shekel. Then he has removed the whole shekel and let the whole t What I'm going to do now, these are actually 19R on the shekel. I just take them out and let the leaf spring fall down. Then I take the new leaf spring, put the screw back in and put the nut on it. I do the same turn the screw through with the nut. Then I just have to lift it up to align it with the axis. Then put the new extended U-bolts on. And then it should be good. Let'see how that works. There could be a reason why he did that. And I'm just an idiot. Good as possible. Okay, guys, so the rail is perfect to work. The leaf is down. Now I just have to insert the new leaf. It was really a c Insert the new leaf here. Then put the U-bolts on the other side and then it should be done. I don't do anyt Because my original shock absorbers were rusty. So completely over. And I replaced them with an off-road equipment for 80,000 km. I said that they were only used lightly. And someone criticized me for that. But I have to say, I mean, I've been on them for a few years now. Probably 15,000 to 20,000 miles. And they had 50,000 on them before. And man, these t Another funny little modification I'm taking here is that I that has different reasons. I was once on a parking lot and the bearings got a small plate. I never replaced them, because who cares. They are made of plastic or, and when I then mounted them to repair them or find a replacement, I noticed that there was a lot of rust under the plastic coating. So I decide to t I mean, t I mainly use it for off-road rides, overland tours. M, so I actually decided to choose that was originally w M, only the car color. I actually glued everyt And that's a few years ago now, so that it starts to bleed. So one of the jobs I'm going to do now is to treat it with rust remover paint to try to repair it a little and make it look a little nicer. So I have to glue everyt M, but M, a t I've glued it on a few times. M, you can see the piece down there, that I've cut off. It's just a kind of t It's really sleeping and shooting. M, that's hanging down somewhere. So on both sides I'm just going to shorten it a little. And when I then apply my rust remover paint, it's also protected. M, yes, that's it. Okay, guys, the driver'side is on. Actually, both sides are on. The new leaf springs are on. M, I just have to arrange the other side. I actually had to use my carcass to push the leaf package up, to get the guide hole, so that the pen fits in the holder there at the axle. M, and then I put the U-bolts on the new U-bolts. Those are extended. I have to mention one t So they are extended. M, so they actually shorten the distance a little, because they are so far down. So I just cut them off a little bit. The reason why I do that is that I will never do that again. That's the only time I'll do that. T My original OEM spring legs have been in use for 16 years. Even if that's just because of its availability and its age. Maybe not, hopefully not. But if so, then I won't be able to exchange a leaf package. I just use angle grinder to shorten it. And because they are so long, I can see them. I still have the carcass underneath. I want it to be bound. That's how I can get there, because they are so long, that I can't push the stick up with my screwdriver. So I just pulled it so tight, as it did with my finger, with a hand tool. And now I'm going back with my screwdriver and just put it on all of them, to get it as tight as possible. But again, they work great. They fit perfectly over the axles. I didn't have to do anything They just fit perfectly in the series- As always, I just wanted to give you an update. More will come later. I have both leaf springs on it. I have to say, the second one was a huge mess. And here's the reason. And I'll help you, because I searched everywhere and couldn't find anyt But then I saw the new X-P A great website, if you have an external fixed plate. I searched there and found an article, in w So, on the second page I first made the driver side. No real problems. The pen has been aligned. A little maneuvering the axles. But it was simple, right? M, on the second time over here. I mean, t It was almost at the end. It was almost 2. 5-5 cm from the guide pen, on w M, and I thought, holy s Right, right. M, so I did the following at the end. I read again on the new X, that someone else built in the general spring. I will find a link to it and share it below. Just in case it's helpful. I took a ratchet belt, wrapped it around the axle a few times, and then wrapped it around the back of the lever. So I actually put the hook through the middle of the lever, and tied it with the other hook. And then my ratchet belt was exactly here, so that I could maneuver it and hold it. But with the ratchet belt I could slowly, pull it back very slowly, until it fit in with the pen. So I had to do all the hands again. I thought, oh my god, I'm not going to get thank you very much to the person who wrote t And she wanted to share it with you, to hopefully save you from the same headaches. That's basically it. I will finish everyt I will shorten these standing bolts, and then we can start. That's it. There are many good resources out there. R Thank you very much to As I already said, He is in Florida. Therefore he doesn't have the same problems as I do. That's why I wanted to make t I landed at the New X, and found a really great article, w But I wanted to make a kind of video presentation, so that you can see a little easier, how it worked for me.
