Hello, my name is Mark. We're at Peacht state auto glass to educate people about auto glass installation and any questions that they may have. T Chris, how long have you been installing auto glass? I've been installing auto glass for over 17 years in Mic Chris, where is your shop located? We are located in the beautiful city of Calhoun at 107 Nelson street. It's right off 41. It's really easy to find. But if you have any problems, just look at our website or give us a call. What types of auto glass do you do? We do any type of glass on any ve Do you do custom glass? We do custom glass. That kind of glass takes a little bit longer than your average normal everyday ve And Chris, what about old ve We do a lot of custom and antique ve If you go to our website, Auto Glass 139. com, you will see a lot of our portfolio of the pictures that we have of different old ve A lot of people want to know the difference between OE and aftermarket glass. That's a good question. The difference between OE stands for original equipment and aftermarket glass is the person that doesn't make that name-brand glass. However, there's really not a difference because according to the Department of Transportation, every glass company that makes it has to go by standard. So there's no such t Everybody has a standard they have to follow. Everybody has to meet that standard. If you do not meet it, you will not be able to sell it. Now, the OE comparing it to aftermarket is a touchy subject and here's the reason why. You take a brand However, CarLite makes the glass for a Chevy S10. So would you consider that an aftermarket quality because CarLite made it for the Chevy S10? Now what particular brands do you install? Now the particular brands that Install can vary. There might be PPG, LOF, Pilkington, Guardian, Migrant, I mean there'so many brands out there. However, if you're buying any glass in the state of Georgia, there's only five distributors in the state. So, The lifetime warranty and the manufacturer warranty still applies to any ve A lot of people wonder why there's a price difference between the nationwide companies and your local shops. Well, that's a simple question. The reason why your nationwide glass chains are more expensive is because of overhead. Now they will tell you that they do different techniques or, The glass company that delivers my glass where I order from as soon as he leaves my warehouse, he goes right down the road to the nation brand warehouse. We all buy from the same people. All you're paying is for is overhead. We're a local shop, so we don't have to give that big We're still going to do the same glass and as you'll see later on as we do the installation, everyt So there won't be no cut corners, there won't be none of that. It'll be an actual OE type installation. All right, well that's answered a lot of our questions. Let's get ready to do your installation and what type of ve What we're going to install today is a 2006 Pontiac G6. It's on a scale of one to 10, 10 being a professional and one being a novice. T So we'll start by popping the hood and what we're going to do is remove these wipers. Simply remove the caps. Right here. Set them down where you won't lose them. Let's go ahead and remove the bolts. Now sometimes you've got to give them just a little bit of tug. But they eventually come off. Now what I do is I That way there's no confusion. Nowadays most times though they will say P for passenger and D for driver. So now that we've got the wipers off we're going to go ahead and lift t Should be just two push pins on each side. Go ahead and pop off t What we'll go ahead and do is safely remove the cowl. We'll just slide it underneath so nobody steps on it and set t Now what I'm going to use on t You've got to be very careful when you get to these corners because your cold knife could come out and then you'll scratch the customer's car. That's a no-no. We'll go to t So now I'm going to grab my 360 express tool and I'm going to use t And what we have here in t All it's going to do is help with the friction and the heat of the gun. Alright so what I'm going to do now real quick before I remove the winds And I So we're just going to safely remove t And now what we're going to do is get our long knife w Always make sure you have a new blade. You can never be greedy with long knife blades. And we're going to remove it to about a sixteenth of an inch, the old urethane. Now that we've got it trimmed up, now what we're going to do is apply the primer that I told you about earlier. But it has to be shaken before you can put it on. So what I'm going to do is I'm going to clean all the pinch weld so I can get it ready for installation. So what I'm going to do now is apply t Now w Now it's important step that you need to follow is the blue gloves, especially after you apply the primer because the oil in your hands will actually contaminate your primer after you have applied it and it's dried. And the less contamination, the less problems you have with leaks or any other issues. Now w So what I'm going to do is I'm going to cut these tips and make a triangle and what that does is it allows my bead to sit Now what we're going to do is what you call a dry set. We're going to sit the glass in with no urethane to make sure that everyt So I'm just going to kind of guess what the experience right where my suction cups need to be. So my suction cups are secure. We're going to walk it over here to the ve We're going to lay it down and see if there's any modifications we need to make. So far everyt We'll check the passenger side. Everything looks So now we'ready to apply the urethane. What I'll do beforehand though is get some tape. Yellow tape right there be And what I'm going to do is mark and score where t So when I lay it back in after the urethane it will line up and I don't have to guess where I'm at. Okay, that's ready. Now that we got it in dry now you can adjust your suction cups where it feels comfortable to you the person installing it. Now I feel So I'm going to go ahead and remove the glass. And we will now apply our urethane. What we're going to do is apply it at the top first. Taking a nice good t Cut it off there at the corner. And then we'll start at the bottom. You don't want to put it on the sides before getting the bottom because you'll have to reach over and then you'll get yourself in the glue. And that makes a mess. I'm just going to make sure that my glue is attached to each other where I have the seams. That prevents any air bubbles in there and causing the leak and it ensures a good bond. Now w She's in there. I'm just going to do a quick smooth of the glass to make sure that it has made contact with the urethane w So now what we'll do is install the cowl back to where everyt Alright. You don't have to spray a lot just a little. And install the rear view mirror. Most important stat. And now we'ready to install our wipers. We've inspected the car. Everyt And that's a quality finish. So for all your Auto Glass needs give us a call at Peach State Auto Glass 706-625-8683 and have a blessed day.
