Huffaker Engineering is an automotive engineering company which designs, builds, and supports race-winning engines and chassis. Huffaker has engineered everything from Ford GT and Mustang Cobra to club racing including Sprite/Midget, as well as Formula Jr’s and Genie’s with other vintage racing specialties. A tribute to our quality and reputation is the loyalty expressed by clients who bring their vintage Huffaker race cars to us for restoration. After fifty-plus years and numerous Championship titles, Huffaker Engineering continues to be recognized as a leader in racecar engineering and development. With a full machine shop, engine dyno, access to a chassis dyno, and many years of experience, Huffaker Engineering can take on whatever job you wish. Huffaker Engineering was established in 1960 to focus on and specialize in the design and development of competition engines and racecars. •1960s: Prepared and raced Jaguars, Lister-Jags, MGs and others •1960s: Plans were drawn up to build a series of cars to compete in SCCA’s Formula Junior class. •1960s: BMC Junior class built using the 948 Sprite engine •1960s: Developed the mid-engine models and developed a series of mid-engine sports-racing car named “Genie”. •1963 - 1967: Along with BMCD in San Francisco, contracted to build and race a series of Indianapolis Specials, which utilized some of the suspension features of the newly introduced MG 1100 sedan. • Began concentrating on engine development and prototype machine work, and continued to run BMC and Genie sports cars in West coast road racing venues. •1970s: SCCA championship-winning MGs, Jags, Triumphs. •1980s Jags, Sebring, beginning of Trans Am, etc. •1992: Designed a tube-frame, rear-drive GT5 class Mini for the exercise of technology. •1998 - 2000: Partnered with Bruce Qvale on a design for the SCCA Trans-Am series. In three years, Huffaker Engineering finished 8th, 3rd, and 1st respectively. A few interesting Huffaker Engineering Trans-Am statistics: •Huffaker Engineering has won the Trans-Am series 3 times in 6 attempts •Included in those 6 years was 1 rookie driver season •Out of 72 races, 52 of our finishes were in the top 10 •Included in those years were 2 rookie seasons •There are a total of 14 first place finishes
