Frame Up Wheel Works

mhm. Hey, we're at Frame Up Wheel Works here in Beach Park, Illinois for the annual Open House event. And I'm standing here with the owner of Frame Works, Bob Janda. Bob, you've been doing this every year. How long have you been doing this event for? Well, we've been, we're in our 30th year of business and it's probably been about 22 to 24 years we've been doing these open houses, Wow, and it seems to be getting larger and larger. Parking is premi Yep, it's kind of a morning thing. Everybody gets early. Well, we feed them so they come, they It's been a good time and we've been fortunate. We've had some pretty good days. So we've also had some pretty cr First of May, it's always the first Sunday in May and it always can be just about anything. So it's been a pretty good run. I'm sure the weather doesn't slow anybody down, does it? No, not really. I mean, between the gasoline and the economy and everything and the weather, what it's been, it's kind of the first event of the year locally and everybody seems to want to get out and tired of fighting winter and everything. So we've had some pretty good turnouts the last couple of years. Last year, I think we had almost 400 cars here. We're full as it is. So we're doing pretty good with that. Great. Tell me just a little bit about Frame Up Wheel Works. Well, we're basically a street ride shop. It's what I started the business 30 years ago and I primarily worked on pre-48 cars just because we couldn't keep up just working on anything newer than that. The pre-48's kept us busy, but now the whole demographics, the whole hobby is changing a little bit. People are into more tri-fives and muscle cars and that kind of stuff. And most of the companies that we deal with and that we are dealers for parts, they handle the stuff for the later model stuff too. So we don't have a problem doing that. But we primarily, 72 is about the newest we work on usually and we do anything pretty much soup to nuts. We don't do any paint and body work here and we don't do any actual upholstery. But we do everything else, all the fit and finish and a lot of chassis fabrication, suspensions, drive trains, wiring, air conditioning, final assemblies. And we'll do a small job, It doesn't matter. We're open, phone n And we're open from 8. 30 to 5. And Wednesday nights we stay open until 8 o'clock and Saturdays still noon. Great.
