I basically grew up around this industry since my father Pat was a painter until he retired in 1999 at the age of 76. I went to work with him as early as 5 years old. As the year progressed I realized that I was addicted to custom cars and bikes. Building model cars, going to races and car shows with dad, my interest kept growing even though my dad insisted on my education and tried at times (sometimes quite aggressively) to discourage me from becoming a painter. Graduating college with an advertising art major, the realization came to me that sitting behind a desk was not for me. I painted my first motorcycle, a Honda 250 scrambler in 1967 at the age of 15, studied and read every car and motorcycle magazine I could get my hands on for any kind of paint ideas and instruction. My heros back then were guys like Larry Watson, Gene Winfield, Big Daddy Roth, Bill Carter, Bobby VonSol and Art Himsel just to name a few. I’ve been very blessed to have my heros past become my friends present. Back then you learned by doing, there were no schools or videos you just did it. After painting out of my parents house for 10 years my little business grew to the point it was time to get my first shop in 1977. (Mom got tired of me using her washer as a prop for dragsters and motorcycle parts). Did my first Magazine article for 4 wheel & off road magazine in 1982. Since then have been featured in some way or another in well over 250 articles or features in publications such as Hot Rod, Car Craft, Rod & Custom, Street Rodder, Popular Hot Rodding, Truckin, Hot VW, Street Trucks, Auto Week, Iron Works and Hot Bike, to name a few. Santinis Has also been involved with the T.V. shows, Hot Rod T.V., Rides, Overhaulin and MTV. I’ve also been blessed to work on vehicles for Musicians, Athletes, some Hollywood people and professional race car drivers. Major companies in the industry have also utilized our
