As a company Diesel Power Source (DPS) strives to produce innovative, quality performance products that produce power, cool EGT's and spool quickly. It's founder and head design engineer holds several patents related to automotive, medical, drilling, and fluid dynamics. DPS. was the first company to introduce a quick-spooling compound turbo kit (twin turbo kit), at a time when the only twin kits available were very laggy, and expensive. DPS is one of the main forces to make twin turbo kits common place, by forcing competition into the market. This push to offer quality kits and at reasonable prices has made it so the average Cummins driver can now afford a twin turbo kit for their truck.

For anyone interested in purchasing a Turbonator VGT from Diesel Power Source, I thought I'd give a review on mine. As far as I know, I was a fourth person to pre-order one and initially I was very excited about getting one because VGT turbos are years ahead of wastegated and non-wastegated turbos. I run a compound setup so it took some time to get everything working together but there was definitely a noticeable improvement in spool up. Then I took it for its first real trip. Around 200 kilometers it felt By the time I got it home the actuator would go out at 120 pounds of shop air but it would just stay there. I took it apart and cleaned everything but it was still tight when I put everything back together. So much so that when I tightened everything up torque spec nothing would move at all. So I contacted Diesel Power Source and I sent them a video of what was happening. They told me if I wanted warranty on it I would have to pay the shipping to ship it back to them for inspection and then I'd have to pay to ship it back to myself. My issue with that was I already paid the shipping for them to send me a fully functional VGT housing and they sent me a piece of crap basically. The inspection they wanted to do should have been done before it was sent to me in the first place. When I brought this up they blocked me on Facebook. So I ended up taking the part again making a bunch of modifications to it. I got it working and it's much more reliable now, no thanks to Diesel Power Source. I just bought the turbine housing but I've got a friend who bought the complete turbo and it blew up after a few weeks. I've got another friend and he's replaced this joint several times because it keeps wearing out on. Three of us have bought them, three of us had trouble with them. So basically they're poorly engineered, there's little to no quality control and once they've got your money there's no customer service. For a little bit of improvement you'll see in spool up it's not worth the cost or the risk that you'll have problems.
