Shawnee Mission Ford was founded in 1954 by Richard J. Shull. Finding his success in the automobile business, he has reached out to the community in many ways. Because he never got the chance to go to college, he has provided numerous scholarships over the years at Johnson County Community College, a particular passion of his. He has donated to and fundraised for JCCC (Richard and Barbara Shull Foyer) and Shawnee Mission Medical Center (Shull Institute for Surgical Robotics) and been named Shawnee's Citizen of the Year twice. He attained his level of success by doing one thing, and doing it well: meeting the greater Kansas City's automotive needs by selling and servicing a full line of Ford cars and trucks.
