First Lube Plus

My name is Timo Valencia. I'm the general manager here at First Lube Plus. I started working here 2016 when the shop first opened up. So First Lube Plus was created by the First Baptist Church to create job opportunities for those who have barriers to employment. We take men in and we try to teach them life skills and mentorship, leadership skills that would take them on to the next transition of their life. I took this job for the ministry aspect of it. When the church told me the opportunity to be able to minister at the same time for working for the church, I took it as a wonderful opportunity. So we have a very unique role here for just changing oil. We have wonderful conversations not only with the employees, but being able to share our faith and share the mission of what we do here with the customers, with people that just walked by. We've been able to see people come to Christ just by walking by or people come to Christ just by coming to get their oil changed. The Lord has allowed to open up that conversation. And while they're getting their oil changed, we are able to end up talking about Christ and share testimonies and be able to pray with customers. So we really do set ourselves apart from any other oil shops because you couldn't go to any other oil shop and ask for prayer at the same time that you get an oil change. And here we have this wonderful opportunity where not just me, but the people that we hire here step out in faith and have conversations with people, with customers, with people that are just walking by. And it's just very, very rich in the Lord to just be able to have conversations, spiritual conversations, and see even healings we've seen. Healings we've seen. People give their life to Christ. So it's really wonderful.
