Hello, t You can reach us on the web at www. a1-telephone. com and you can also reach us at 618-235-6959. Today I want to show you a really cool A&E wall telephone. T Basically it has the A&E 21 design and so it's probably from the 20s or 30s and it was from the era where A&E was still involved with Stroger and he was the guy who invented their first automatic rotary dial. Here on the front you can see where the affiliation with Stroger there on the center dial card. Basically I believe Kirk is a teacher and he's going to put t If he's wanting to use that way it can be used in a situation where you can use it every day and have the quality because we want it to have a quality sound. Some of these older telephones will have a quality sound but when it comes to when you don't have a network on the inside So it might be a good ideal to go to that situation where we kind of hybrid it. On the handset cord it's an original cord, it's cloth cord but it has some fraying. Now we have ways of trying to repair up the fray and make it where it's not going to fray so much anymore but we'll have to see what Kirk wants to do. Another t I want to show you the receiver. T Now you might be able to repair it but then would it even work properly when you did so that's pretty damaged at t So we'll set t Also, we found a schematic and I took the schematic, usually they glue these schematics or they put these schematics on the capacitor that's on the inside. Now we're going to put it back together again. We're going to kind of stabilize it because every day that goes by t But It's not returning very well as you can see. It's kind of locking up so that's going to have to be gone through. And it's been my experience on these type of transmitters. A lot of times what will happen is on t It's just a fallback. I know some of the newer, a little newer style transmitters that they had usually were very good about not having much static and noise be And back in the old days, they would just have to deal with whatever sound they had. It was better than not having a telephone at all and so they would just kind of put up with it because a lot of times unless these were just working exactly perfect, they had a lot of noise other than that. So that'somet I want to show you the inside of t It's got its original bell. I'm going to give you a look here at it. It has its original bell in all the wiring blocks and then up here you have your capacitor but you can see that the rotary is in pretty poor shape right now. We're going to have to get into that and clean it up, make sure that it racks off properly and it's dialing the n In order to balance it out, you probably would want to have some type of network although depending on the sound quality, sometimes you can get away with just running an open receiver and mic but to make t So it's a really cool piece of the past. It's just a really nice example of an A&E metal cased wall telephone that was still affiliated with Stroger. Now they finally bought It's a very nice example of a wall telephone from A&E and it has the, They did have a couple of little changes that they had done to them. Some of these had the bells actually on the top so you would see your bell on the top, your two bells and then some of them had a handset, later models had a handset So they went through a few different model changes with these but t You can reach us on the web at www. a1-telephone. com and you can also reach us at 618-235-6959.
