Uptown Body & Fender is a company that is concerned about you as much as your car. We are committed to making your vehicle repair a smooth, hassle-free experience from the estimate to your final departure.
Owners Lisandro Allende and Giovanna Tanzillo founded their business with vision that a big part of service is not only the dedication to the highest quality of repair, but assisting the customer with insurance claims, car rentals and their busy schedules. The whimsical office with its complimentary espresso and tea bar, and classical music playing in the background helps to put customers at ease, reinforcing Uptown's dedication to the highest quality of customer service.
Hello, my name is Jovanna Tenzillo and our business is Uptown Body and Fender. We are located in Oakland, California and have been in business for 20 years. Uptown was created when my partner, Lisandro and I, worked for a body shop and both decided to leave at the same time. The other body shop was called Downtown, Auto Body, and when people asked us where were going, I said, well where can you go from Downtown but Uptown? So Uptown was created from scratch 20 years ago and we've been having a great time ever since. It is an unusual business for a woman but my partner who's been fixing cars for 54 years runs the production part of the shop and has trained each and every one of our employees to not be a parts replacement person. We repair cars as a craftsman would and only replace parts when absolutely necessary. Customer service is very important to Uptown so we've installed an espresso bar and we'll be happy to make you a great cappuccino or latte or serve you a wonderful cup of tea. We will call the insurance company, we will take care of the rental for you, we have rentals on the premises and you may leave from the body shop with the rental and you may leave it at the shop at the end of your repair. Lisandro and I feel that our employees and our customers are our most important assets. When we opened Uptown 20 years ago we decided then that it would be based on quality work and great customer service. We follow the Gandhi principle of customer service and I'd A customer is the most important visitor on our premises. He is not dependent on us, we are dependent on him. He is not an interruption in our work, he is the purpose of it. We are not doing him a favor by serving him, he is doing us a favor by giving us the opportunity to serve him. Uptown believes that our business can only do well if our community is doing well. So therefore we allow our building to be used to raise money whether it be through fundraising auctions or artistic performances. We have a 10,000 square foot facility with tables and chairs, lighting and a sound system that we allow these non-profits and schools to use at no charge. I love people and I love going to work every day because I never know who I will meet that day. I often say that I meet the greatest people by accident. Our motto at Uptown is taking out life's little wrinkles one car at a time. Please stop by and let us take out some of yours.
