The Garage is a mix of the traditional auto shop plus a unique Do It Yourself system that allows anyone the use of a lift and tools to repair your vehicle
My name is Steve Coffield. I'm one of the owners of American Do It Yourself Garage. American Do It Yourself Garage is a place for people to come with their vehicles, be it cars, trucks, jeeps, motorcycles, ATVs, and we offer them a space for them to do repairs, maintenance, upgrades, things You do not need to know much about vehicles. You can come in and just say, this is my first time. I don't know how to change the oil. We can't do the work for you, but we can walk you through and guide you along and you can go from there. Customers can come in several ways. They can either just show up and hope we've got space available. And a lot of times we do. They can make reservations online or via phone call. Once we open up and our reservations are taken care of, it's kind of a free-for-all. It's kind of a first come, first serve. It's hard to say what's going to happen with any of these projects. They can go smooth and they can go very sideways and it can be an all-day sucker for a lot of folks. So if you're going to reserve a spot, we definitely recommend it for when we open, if that's at all possible. As far as requirements for coming in here, there really aren'too many. Teenagers, older people, and everybody in between. We provide paper towels, gloves, WD-40, brake clean, peevee blaster, stuff The only thing you need to supply is the part that you're going to be replacing on your vehicle. We've got a great relationship with the part stores in the area. They can typically bring us parts within an hour to a customer's bay. There's no charge. It's the price that the customer would pay online to get it. If it's a large project or a time-cons We charge a small overnight fee of $25 for that. If it's a longer term, for example, someone's taking out a transmission needs it rebuilt. A lot of times we will just push a vehicle out into our parking lot and wait for it to come back from being rebuilt and then take care of it. We That's kind of the best part about this is seeing people who really have never tried this and want to get their feet wet, but they've always been afraid to by themselves. Now we're here to help. We're here with all the stuff they might need. And that's the idea is to get them more involved in their own repairs, maintenance, to save them money, help them out basically. I'm a former customer that turned employee. My first impression when I walked in was it's very clean to be a shop. Usually walking to a shop and you got grease covered floors and tools are all dirty and this is very clean. The look of the place was Steve's idea. He wanted a vintage place. He did not want a gray garage. He wanted some place that girlfriends wanted to come into and be able to sit down and watch their boyfriends, husbands, whatever work on the vehicle and we have that. If people are waiting or need to take a break, they can go into our lounge. They're more than welcome to order food and put the food in our vintage refrigerator or heat it up in our microwave. We definitely encourage folks to stop by. We have what we call the nickel tour and we'll walk folks around and show them everything. We don't just throw you in the deep end and say you're on your own. Enjoy. It's not the purpose of this place. The idea for us is make sure your project is a success and you have a good time. The best way for folks to find out about us would be to hit our website at americandiyg. com or probably even better than that, be Facebook. We're open seven days a week. Monday through Friday we're open from 12 to 7 and then on the weekends we're open from 10 a. m. to 7 p. m. If you need to work on your vehicle, come check us out. If you have no idea what you're doing, still come check us out. We'll be more than happy to help you and guide you through.
