Danny's U Pull

We buy unwanted used cars and trucks

Getting ready to stick the starter in t I put that together. It's just twisted up. Yeah, AC compressor, crank shaft position sensor. What do we ever do? We're going to have to, oh, I guess we could call S We could get on to Amazon and buy the cheapest one out there. But that's not how we're going to handle t Let's take and let's j All right, so right before we head out, let's pack some tools. We've got a simple tool set up. I thought I'd show you what I've got, of course, everybody loves it. The random box of sockets. Got a nice icon, her harbor freight cordless drive ratchet here. A couple of extensions. The all important impact with the quarter inch adapter and screwdriver bit for it. Then I take a couple of different, Then some needle nose because, well, you never know when you're going to get somet A couple of different P Yeah. Then some old cheap water p I kind of knew what I was going to go get so I don't pack a ton of stuff. One t I didn'take that with me and they were in a tight spot where I couldn't really get to them to snap those dudes loose. So I just had to cut some lines there. So you get your tools rounded up, All the bolts go in there and we do that if you use the old school little metal toolbox. Now they're loud, they're clunky and So I just You're not really stalking anyt You got to get those nice parts. So let's pack up. It's about 40 miles to get there. Something Yeah, 35. I don't know. It's a ways. So let's go and get parts. All right. So we made it to the U-Pool salvage here in between Tulsa and Owasso. Man, a lot of cars in here. There's quite a few people here today because it's been down about five and 10 degrees and then now today we got a break and it's going to be quite a bit warmer. So a lot of folks, but it's a big yard and we'll just route our way in there and get the parts we need. Hopefully, we don't have to tear down a whole car just to get a couple pieces. I t It does cost you two dollars to get in. You got to bring your own tools, typical pull apart deal, reasonable prices on everyt You can go online and look at their inventory. You can also go online and check out the prices of the parts even so I've had good luck because I use a lot of stuff for mock up, pulling things out of here and pointing out that they're broken and they sell it to me It's just a good part for mock up for me. So Danny's you pull and yeah, let's go in here and see if we can get our parts. All right, so there's the wall, the contact info. If you're in the Tulsa area or Owasso, I guess t It's a super good salvage. They change their inventory out regularly and it only costs you two dollars to get in. Tell them what you're looking for. They print out a list of ve You do have to bring your own tools and kind of plan ahead so you got it all ready. Wow. That looks close to the trees doesn't it? All right. So Danny, we got us a giant 134A condenser here. Got the rubber mounts on the top of it. I grabbed a, they actually pulled the motor out of t So we have all the connectors we need there and enough steel line to get in and create our own fuel line. Got my some wiring connectors and a power steering cooler and I t I was looking for a top for my fuse block over there, but I don't see one. The ECM's already gone out of t So hey, you can only get what you can get. All right. So I found the AC can answer a couple of pieces of fuel line, power steering cooler and a little, somebody pulled the motor and they cut the wires, but they left the connector that I needed. That's good. So, all right. So hey, we made it back from the salvage safe and sound and just wanted to kind of show Pretty basic stuff. Here's our electrical connector that we needed and the AC plug that we needed. T And yeah, you guessed it. It's a salvage yard. Somebody had already cut all that off for us. So we got all our plugs with some pretty long pigtails. That's great. We'll be able to put those in. All right. And then I grabbed AC lines. T I just grabbed the whole t So we got lots of line to play with. That's a super good deal. Then t We got our safety switch. We got the connection for the line there. That's always a win. T We'll see how that all lines up for us. Then somebody was nice enough to pull the motor out of that ve So we got our AC lines with our connectors there that go directly into the intake. And it's pretty cool that Maybe they didn't screw them up trying to unplug them. And then unfortunately I did not take the disconnect tools with me. So I had to cut those lines right there. I'm sure that we can patch back into them somehow, some way. We can make it work. Grab the piece of al That's always good to have. Grab t When you get the condenser, grab the rubber parts as well that it sits on. The upper part of these just goes through two bolts. Bolts it up nice and simple. That's what I thought maybe this piece might help locate, mount, do something AC condenser. Then pretty much every late model GM has some kind of power steering cooler. At least all the trucks do. So I went ahead and I grabbed t It goes on the return side so there's no pressure to them. The lines look good. There wasn't any leaking going on there. And it just also mounts up on that core support. So got all t And Go in, get the list. That'somet If you tell them what you're looking for, they will print out interchange for you. And they also on everyone, they give you ve The row and the description of them. I was looking for a w I found a maroon colored suburban. It was close to have what I needed. I just grabbed it right then. That way I only spent about an hour in the yard. So it's a great place to go. Cheap place to get parts. That's what you want when you're building one of these ve And Make sure you're using rosin core solder. I got a probably too big of a soldering gun because it's going to get really hot. Possibly melt the insulation on the wire a little bit. Now they make the new butt connectors with solder in there and shrink tube. Maybe next time I go out and I buy stuff for doing wiring I'll acquire myself some of those. And I'm just waiting on t We want to get it where the solder definitely wicks into the wire where it's not just forming a cl And I always put my gun on the back side of the wire and then push the solder into the wire until it starts to take. And then just watch it work. Yeah, it's a process. It takes it a second. All right. Fully soldered. Nice silver solder joint. I mean not silver solder but silver colored solder. And always make sure you put your shrink tubing on there before you solder your wires. That's always bad. You can always go back and take them up I guess. I And it's not just going to pull apart. So, got to replace the one for the air conditioning compressor. I may do that after I get my starter put in here. Plug everyt More of that handy stuff that you can come up with at the Salvatge. Now these clips right here are metal. I don't particularly These are okay. They're almost So we'll get those going down with our lines through the frame. Then you got t I kind of And you see I rounded up a whole bunch of them out of that Salvatge. And So I t So it's cheaper than ordering line. Definitely cheaper than making it all yourself. You just got to remember it's not going to be perfectly straight. I mean we're not building something we're taking to the Roadster show or the Autoram or anything We're building a cool truck to drive. So you can see coming out of that yard at Dany's U-Pool. We got I did grab these plastic lines as well. Not sure if I'm going to use them. You can see that one. It went to the fuel p We picked up t I determined it's really too big. You can see it comes way over on each side of the core support. I just grabbed it because it was easy to get. I can take that back and do an exchange at the Salvatge w Everywhere across t Again, tell the folks at the counter if t You're just using them to mock up. Go in and have a conversation with somebody. Shake a hand, make a friend. You're just building a car in your garage and telling them what you are doing. Most of them are car people as well. Super friendly at the Salvatge there at Dany's. I know there are several others in the Tulsa area that will help you out You just need to get a relations It's an easy way, a lot cheaper than just $1,800 out of a catalog. You can go to the parts store and buy replacement pieces for what you put on your ve You do have to t I appreciate If you like the video, give it a th We thank you and we'll catch you on the next one.
