If you have a brand new car from the car dealer and you don't want to give up the remote that it came with but you do want an alarm system, you can get what's called a factory upgrade alarm. The way it works, you press lock on your factory transmitter and it arms the vehicle. You press unlock and it disarms the vehicle. Once the car is armed, there's a status light that tells you that the car is armed to let intruders know you have an alarm system. Once that light starts blinking, anything that would normally set up the alarm, such as the door opening or shock to the vehicle, is going to set off the alarm. Light shock is going to give warning chirps. A harder hit, which I'm not going to do for the safety of this customer's car, is going to set the alarm off fully. Now, if somebody were to, let'say, reach into the car if the window is open and unlock it, it sets off the alarm. Now, normally unlocking the vehicle is going to give you two chirps, but when this customer comes back to his car, because I set the alarm off before, he gets four chirps. So if you come back to your car and you hear that, If you ever want to turn off the alarm temporarily, for whatever reason, you can put it into what's called valet mode. To put it into valet mode, you put your ignition key in, you turn it on, all the lights are on the dash. Then, over here, this light, which also doubles as a button, gets held down. After about 10 seconds or so being held down, the light's going to go solid red. Now it's in valet mode. Now, if I shut this down, I can still lock the car. I can still unlock the car, but the alarm system doesn't chirp. Now to take it back out of valet mode, I'm going to put the key in, I'm going to turn it, and I'm just going to give the button one press, and now you see it goes blank. Now, I get the chirp for lock, and I get two chirps for unlock.
