So I got a 1954 or 55 Browning Aldo 5 standard 12 and A good friend of mine had t So stay with me So if you're new to these Browning Aldo 5s These are recoil operated guns in order for these guns to shoot reliably They need good springs and they also need the steel ring and the brass fitted ring The bevels have to be lined up and they have to be set up a certain way for it to operate reliably So I will first show you how to set t We're going to slide it on the magazine tube Okay, and then we're going to take our brass plated Copper plated ring. I'm not sure what that material is and you see how I have the two gaps lined up The steel ring and the inner ring are lined up. We're going to slide t We've got our new recoil spring Followed by our steel ring bevel towards the front and Then our brass or copper plated ring also bevel towards the front and Then we'ready to put our barrel on and we'ready to shoot heavy loads What I typically do when I put a new recoil spring on is I leave this gun set up for heavy loads And then I shoot my lightest loads through it and if it cycles I leave it alone And then if the gun starts to get to wear after it's got some wear on that spring It won't cycle the light loads anymore, then I'll swap it around So I've got one of the strips of paper that would have gone on the inside of the fore end from browning And it kind of gives you a picture of what everything should look I'll put everyt
