Our fearless leader, Keith Hess, was a carpenter by trade. He always enjoyed buying and selling cars and motorcycles as a hobby. One day he decided to buy a used van, fix it up, and sell it. Well it sold much faster than he thought it would, so he started only doing van conversions, one at a time. After having a lot of success, he eventually rented out a shop in Fort Collins (where’s Black’s Glass is today), hired a crew, and started the Vanworks we know today. In the hay day of vans in the 80s and 90s, Vanworks was producing over 200 Vans and Truck conversions PER MONTH. Back then there were 1000s of competing van converters, but after a big shake up in the market with changing rules from the manufactures (GM, Dodge, Ford, etc), most couldn’t compete any longer but we remained. As the market changes, as customer needs change, we change to meet those demands and build what people want and what they need.
I'm Claire. And today we're going to be showing you the Basecamp Plus package on a Ford Transit. Let's go check it out. Moving into our cabin, first thing you'll notice is our al Taking a look at our kitchen galley, we have a stainless steel sink, our fridge-freezer combo, cabinet for storage, and a slide-out drawer. For our interior, we use a Flexform ash fabric with a pre-finished birch wall to keep you comfy and cozy. For our battery system, we use a Gold Zero 1500X, which gives you plenty of power. Now that Ryan took Taking a closer look at the control panel, we've got the switch for the overhead lights, the dial for the cabin heater, and the remote for the Max air fan. Lastly, if you're looking to do a little reading before bed, we've got handy bedside reading lights with a dimmable switch. Moving underneath the bed, we have a massive garage to store any bikes, kayaks, outdoor gear you may need, plus additional storage in this will-wobox. Being RVIA certified, we proud ourselves in safety. On every Basecamp Plus, we install a carbon monoxide detector, smoke detector, and fire extinguisher. If you have any pets or are an outdoor enthusiast, this is the ideal floor for you. This is our marine grade floor, perfect for outdoor lifestyle. Now that we're finished with the inside, let's take a look at the outside. First thing you'll notice is our vinyl wrapped inserts to give more of a flare of the van. We also add running boards for easier access into the van. Looking up, we've got the FIAMMA manual awning. Super easy to use and a quick way to cool off. On top of the van, we've got a 100 watt flexible solar panel. It keeps your battery charged and it keeps you out for longer.
