Kotes Powder Coating

Okay, The first that's extremely important when you're going to do a new coating because you want to make sure that the surface is ready and prepped correctly so that the coating will adhere properly. So here I'm going to flip here. I stopped by here today to drop off some parts. You can see that they have, they're a great source. This is after immersion stripping as well and then this is what it looked So you've got to get it out. You've got some rust here so you're still going to have to do some seam lasting and prep but as far as getting the paint off, the immersion stripping basically just takes it off. These are some of the coatings they offer. They're ceramic but I wanted to show the powder coatings that they have in here. They have several colors. These are just your options but you can see that they have quite a bit of a selection. You've got wheels. So anyt You can go from having your car completely stripped. I know they so we're going to walk through the shop and so we're going to walk through the shop and see what they have out here that we can kind of show you what's going on. Okay it's loud out here in the shop but you can see they've got a bicycle frame that's been sandblasted. They use an 80 grit al We typically don't want to go too aggressive because it'll show through the actual coating depending on how sick the coating is. But here'some sandblasted panels. By zoom in you can see the edge and you never want touch them with bare hands because they will leave fingerprints through the coating. So here's the first step is sandblasting. You got to sandblast the parts to prep them for coating. Some more sandblasted parts. You'll see this is from a cast that's to be out casting and what'll happen is when you actually powder coat it, a little bubble It looks kind of But it's okay. I mean you can still do casting. It's just you got to be mindful of that. Now it's really dark in here but these are sandblasting cabinets and you'll see that's Matt looking through a window and checking out or these are blast cabinets. So you open one up. I'll show you what it looks See they hold the parts with a glove and then the hose right here. Exactly they sand what? The spray sand. You can see the fine sand right there. So they take off all the old coating and make sure that the metal has a nice profile for the next stage w Okay now if you look you'll see we've got t So these have all been powder coated and they look brand new.
