Mark Levrett has an undeniable passion for fabrication and off-road racing. From his early days in Pro Motocross, to Expert Jet skis, shifter carts, and finally in 2006, the dream of finally off-road racing full time. Every career move he has made has always included thoughts on how it will help his goal of becoming one of the best off-road racers in the world, as well as the huge desire to make a living from his creative and fabrication talents. Mark started off in his early teens as a transmission mechanic with the guidance of his father John. In his early 20’s he wanted to broaden his fabrication and mechanical knowledge and would leave the automotive industry to manage the fabrication department at a Peterbuilt dealership in Reno, Nevada. After three years, and a pocket full of new knowledge, he decided to peruse another goal, to own his own business, as his dad and grandfather did before him. The transition was made, returning to his automotive roots, starting Levco Transmission in 1991. After a successful 15 year run, he sold Levco Transmission to pursue his dream job of driving Class 1 desert race cars. Thanks to John Harrah of Speed Technologies, a dream had come true, Mark was managing a fabrication and race car preparation department for one of the largest teams at the time. In the winter of 2009, Mark was asked to head the production facility for Torchmate, an up and coming CNC plasma cutting business based out of Reno Nevada. Mark used his knowledge and management skills to take the now popular “Torchmate X” series from a mild mannered two tables a month production run, to what today is an industry leader. Mark comes from racing stock, his dad John raced motorcycles in the early days of off-road racing, as well as off-road dune buggies in the 1960’s. During this period is when Mark caught the off-road racing bug. Mark’s Grandfather raced sprint cars for many years before and after World War II, achieving numerous championships. One of his grandfather’s biggest accomplishments was rookie of the year at the Indianapolis 500 in 1949. He was also inducted into the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame in 2007. This experience, along with his innate knowledge as a machinist, fabricator, CAD designer, and his artistic ability, gives Mark a rare balance of all sides of a project. This knowledge and relations gained throughout his past will allow Mark to give what he feels is the broadest range of fabrication skills he could possibly offer a consumer. In other words, a jack of many trades, with the burning desire to master of all he pursues. Enter Mark One Metal Works.
