Gulf Coast Speedway

Music Well it's a hot day out here at Gulf Coast Speedway, 94 degrees. We do have a slight breeze w I'm standing here in turn four. You're looking at turn three be They've been watering it pretty heavily since I've gotten here. As you can see there'some puddles down there. A lot of puddles, a little bit rotted up at the moment. Kind of looks A little bit tacky and pretty rotted up. We did pretty good last year on a track It's a little physically demanding. But tacky tracks always a little bit faster and more fun than a slick one lane track. So I t So we'll see what happens tonight. We are starting an hour later than usual. I t I We get to a hotel pretty late as it is. So it's probably going to be a pretty late night tonight. But not We have late nights all the time on the track. But tonight's just a Gulf Coast points race. We've got some pretty good cars here already. I'm sure Maverick Elkins will be here. He lives right down the road. We've got Isaiah Garcia. I'm pretty sure I saw both the batteries pull in. A lot of good cars should be a Pretty competitive. I've always got a full field of cars here at Gulf Coast. So I guess we're going to see what the track does. Were coming here hoping to kind of have a slick track. Try some new t Unfortunately it doesn't look . . Well, it might be slick but probably not slick and smooth Were kind of hoping it to be. But that's all right. We'll just do what we can with what we got. And should be a pretty fun night tonight. Skies look pretty clear for the most part. I mean we've got some clouds up there but no big storm clouds. That's kind of a first here for t It's always been pretty stormy. And I got storms out in the distance. So just have some clouds here and there. It's pretty nice. Provide some shade and hopefully just keep t I hope they kind of get out here and start rolling it in. It's pretty puddled up You can kind of see the puddles there. Be But it should be an interesting night. Got a lot of cars here. Always a full grandstand and good food. So look forward to it and we'll see how it comes out at the end. Hot laps went pretty well. Track was pretty tacky so I was a little tight. But that's no big deal. It should come to me by the end of the night. And should be pretty fast all night. Fortunately though when Gulf Coast gets pretty tacky, usually gets a little bit rutted up. W But I kind of It's really fast and it's a pretty fun track. And usually in multiple ways. So hopefully it's And Well I had a pretty good feature race. I started fourth and struggled to get around the t Ended up falling back to fifth I t And then eventually I was able to find a groove, run back up to the t And that's where I sat the remainder of the race. First and second were pretty fast. But who were racing together pretty dirty and really aggressively. So I was trying to kind of stay back a little bit. And just kind of wait for them to make a mistake. And hopefully not get caught up in it. They did make a couple mistakes. And I tried to get up in there but they just weren't big enough. So It was really hard to pass. And just kind of waiting was really the best option I had. I just tried to stay clean. I did make a move or two and kind of got chopped once or twice. So Come into the checkered flag, second really threw it in. And tried to kind of get the back b And of course that's the one time I tried to run the top the entire race. So I would just say low. I probably would grab second from But There's no way no one is going to happen. So It's a really good result. And getting some pretty good points there. So I just I wish it was a little more racy and multi-lane. But sometimes you just got to take what you can get.
