Hello and welcome to the 741 channel. Today I'm going to be installing t So currently inside the Suburban I've got a Yezu FTM3200 installed here in the center console and the problem is I can't see it w So I wanted a radio with a detachable face so I could mount it somewhere up here in my field of vision so that I can see it w Now because I've already got a ham radio mounted in t I've already got power running from the battery up to the radio here in the console and I've already got my antenna mounted on the ve And I've even got an external speaker up here on the dash with a wire run be So I t So mounting the radio body in the car really is just kind of plug-and-play. The hard part here is going to be deciding how and where to mount the control head. I t So I spent some time in the car here trying to figure out where I want to mount t I thought of a few places that might work starting off down here. There's plenty of room right here but if I mount the radio here then I won't be able to use t Another thought I had was to kind of put it here with some Velcro or some other kind of adhesive sideways. Now even though it fits just fine right here I really don't want it sideways. I t Another spot that might work is right here. I might be able to put some kind of mounting t Another thought was to maybe put it here again with some kind of mounting stock or something I can put some sort of mounting stock here to kind of bring it in so it's not directly in the path of the sun beating down on it and then also being up here I thought it would be just a little less visible and out of the way and I can run the control cable kind of up underneath t So here's the mounting system that I've come up with. These are actually spare bits and bobs that I've had for my GoPro camera that I just haven't used with it because well aside from using it to shoot this video I don't really use it that much because frankly I really don't So t What I'm going to do is I'm going to use the pressure sensitive adhesive that comes with it. I'm going to stick t And on this side of the pivot there's a standard quarter 20 mount for a camera or something So then t And then once this is all attached Now for the unconventional part of what I'm about to do here. Now t So I've got t But before I glue t So I'm just going to grab some of the E6000 and I'm going to spread it around on the mount here. And now I'm going to line it up to the center of the back of the radio and just press it in place. So I'll let t Now one t Someday down the road if I want to change the way this radio is mounted or sell it or something But time will tell with that and again I don't necessarily recommend that you try t So what I'll do next is take the Yezoo out of here to make room for the icon. It may not be visible in the camera but I've got the mounting bracket that came with the radio screwed into the center console here on the side and then there's just the four bolts that came with the radio holding it on. So I'm going to probably need to get a wrench or screwdriver to get these screws off and then the radio will come right out. So you should be able to see the bracket that the Yezoo was mounted to. Now luckily the icon fits directly in that bracket but the icon is just a little bit deeper than the Yezoo with the fan that's on the back. So I t Now the other t I had a CB radio in here but I really wasn't using it so I took it out. T So with the radio mounted It's a little bit of a progress update. You can see that I took the Yezoo bracket from t Now the bracket is actually a little t I've got one th So I the back of the radio is here. I've got the antenna connected up, my external speaker wire connected up down here to the speaker jack and my power cord is connected up. I've pulled off the cup holders so I have access to the hole that I have in the bottom of the console so I can start running my control cable. So next up I want to use my step bit and I'm going to pop a hole in the console somewhere right around here so that I can run my microphone out of the console instead of under the lid and pinc I do have a grommet that I thought I could put in here but I t So for right now I'm gonna have to leave it as it is and I'll have to go to the hardware store and get a smaller grommet later. I probably should have drilled it a little bit lower down but I t I'm able to run the cable through and plug it right into the radio and now I can close the console not So I'm pretty sure nobody's gonna be able to see t It connects into the radio down here goes through the access hole that's at the bottom of the console and then runs along the side under here along the carpet down be Now the only spot the wire is exposed is right here and I should be able to tuck that in be So I've let the glue dry on the back of the radio head for about 24 hours so it's good and firm now. I also removed that screw that I had in here to protect the threads. I'm ready to put everyt You can see here that I've put another one of these th So now if I thread t So now that's all tightened up t So I've got the backing paper removed one side of the sticky pad. I'm gonna mount it to the mount. So now I'll pull t So now I'll plug in the control cable and now I should be able to slide t So that looks Now the moment of truth let's fire the last t If you enjoyed the video please give it a th If you'd
